Adult Braces
They’re not just for Kids anymore!
The boom in cosmetic dentistry is prompting more adults to consider wearing braces to straighten their teeth. So if you think you’re too old for braces think again. What are the types of braces available for adults?
Ceramic Braces
Ceramic or “tooth-coloured” braces appear to blend into the teeth. They are more comfortable than metal braces and are usually worn on the outside of your teeth.
Invisalign Braces
Invisalign or “clear” braces. This is a removable transparent brace made of very thin plastic that only covers your teeth, so it does not affect your speech and cause any soreness of the soft tissues. Because of the nature of this brace it cannot be used in every case.
Lingual Braces
Lingual Braces. This brace is normally made of metal worn on the inside of your teeth and therefore can not be seen. It may effect your speech initially and your tongue could be quite sore for a couple of months.
