Sedation Dentistry for Nervous Patients

If you’re nervous or anxious visiting the dentist, you’re not alone. We’d like to introduce you to a technique that’s helped thousands of patients in Bristol and beyond finally get the treatment they need.

Sedation dentistry can help phobic patients and those who feel nervous approaching dental treatment.

Sedatives ease you into a peaceful, relaxed state in which you’ll remain conscious throughout, but will feel nothing.

Performed by Queen Square Dental Clinic’s team of qualified IV-sedation dentists, the relaxing anti-anxiety treatment could change your mind about dental appointments for good.

From fillings to extractions and everything in between, Sedation dentistry can help you feel relaxed about almost all dental treatments. We can even administer sedation during your routine hygiene appointment.

Phobia-Friendly Dentists

We’ve created a warm and welcoming atmosphere where you can meet with clinicians to answer any questions before receiving treatment.

We’re happy to explain more about sedation dentistry at an informal consultation, where we can also talk about other calming techniques to help put your mind at rest.

Faultless treatment and care as always. I initially felt nervous about attending for an appointment during this present difficult time. There was no need to worry as the whole experience was excellent. I am confident the staff are protected and every patient is safe in their expert hands. I will not hesitate to attend my next appointment.

I always thought that “you can’t put a price on happiness”, or even on confidence! Well, I definitely agree with that to some extent but I can also say… this is exactly what Dr. Richard Field has given me with the treatment I received at Queen’s Square Dental clinic.

I joined this dental practice as a patient a few months ago after reading reviews on dental practices in the Bristol city centre area. This practice certain does live up to all the excellent reviews that I read. This practice has specialists for all types of dentistry and I have been seen by several dentists during the course of a repair of a nasty fractured molar.

Sedation Dentistry FAQs

Will I be completely unconscious?

No. IV sedation means making you relaxed, not unconscious. You won’t remember anything about treatment afterwards, so it may feel as though you were not conscious.

Is it painful?

No. You can’t feel a thing when you’re IV sedated, even though you’re awake.

Can I go back to work after treatment?

You should always rest for the rest of the day after undergoing any kind of sedation. If you feel okay the next day, then you can go back to work, but only the next day.

Which treatments does sedation dentistry work best with?

Sedation dentistry can help you feel relaxed during crown and bridge work, fillings, implants, oral surgery (including wisdom tooth removal and apicectomy procedures) root canal, veneers, cosmetic bonding and more. You can even have sedation while undergoing routine hygiene therapy.
